Bespoke · Maison Tóukkani

Bespoke begins with the space

The first question is not, “Which rug would you like?” It is, “What does the room need to do?” Connect two areas, slow a passage, frame a table, soften reverberation or give a large room a sense of measure?

Artisans at a loom in Morocco

Weaving does not simply copy a design: it gives it rhythm, depth and life.

Made without shortcuts

The design is developed in Switzerland. The piece takes shape in Morocco.

From a plan, photograph, material sample or intuition, the Maison develops a direction. Exact dimensions, colour compositions, pile height, density and selected fibres are refined with the project team.

Once the direction is chosen with you, the weavers in our atelier begin weaving by hand. The fibre moves, the relief changes, and the pattern gains a depth no file can fully predict.

After the loom, the wool is washed and dried naturally. Finishing and a final inspection follow, before the piece leaves for the interior it was designed for.

A piece, from brief to home

Five moments in which the project becomes material.

Each piece is made to order. Allow 9 to 12 weeks, depending on size and the complexity of the design.

The brief

Plans, use, light and existing materials. We look at what the rug should support, and what it should leave open.

The design

Proportion, palette, pile height and density are tuned to the real room, with samples that can be seen and touched.

The loom

The piece is woven by hand in the Maison’s atelier in Morocco. Consistency matters, but the variations of fibre and gesture belong to the piece too.

Washing

The wool is washed and dried naturally. The hand softens, the relief becomes clearer and the material finds its final balance.

The piece in place

Tailoring may result in one piece or an entire collection. In either case, the rug belongs to the architecture instead of arriving as an afterthought.
